The Sealy Posturepedic and TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze do share some similarities — they are both hybrid mattresses, made with a combination of foams and coils — but there are some important differences that set them apart.
Main Similarities
- Both mattresses come in more than one firmness. The Sealy Posturepedic has a Soft and Firm version (we tested the Soft), and the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze has a Soft, Medium Hybrid, and Firm version (we tested the Medium Hybrid). I should note the Soft and Firm versions of the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze are all-foam mattresses, though.
- Both the Sealy Posturepedic and TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze can work well for back and side sleepers and have a medium-firm feel (the Soft and Medium Hybrid models we tested).
- Both mattresses come with a 90-night trial, 10-year warranty, and free white glove delivery. Fun fact: Sealy and Tempur-Pedic are owned by the same company, Tempur-Sealy!
Main Differences
- The TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze offers deeper contouring and pressure relief than the Sealy Posturepedic, thanks to the thick layers of TEMPUR Material foam used in the bed’s construction.
- The Sealy Posturepedic is much more responsive than the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze, meaning it is easier to move around on.
- The TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze is considerably more expensive than the Sealy Posturepedic.
Sealy Posturepedic and Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze Mattress Feel Comparison
Now let’s talk about how these beds feel. To determine the firmness of a mattress, we have a few team members test out the bed and give it a ranking on our firmness scale. We average those together for a final ranking. Our scale is from 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, the most common and versatile mattress firmness.
Sealy Posturepedic
We rated the Sealy Posturepedic as a 6.5 out of 10, meaning it is a true medium-firm bed. When lying on the Sealy Posturepedic, our testers felt more “on top” of the bed than in it, but still felt some of the foam layers conforming around them. The use of sturdy coils and softer foams gives this bed a pleasant mix of comfort and support. Keep in mind we tested the Soft version of the Posturepedic, so the Firm version likely has a firmer feel.
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze
We also rated the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze as a 6.5 out of 10, making it a medium-firm mattress, too. While these beds are similar in firmness, their feels are different. The TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze has an initially firm feel, but as the memory foam starts to conform around you, it feels softer and cozier. Our testers felt this bed had a nice amount of sinkage, making it work well for relieving pressure.
Comparing What it’s Like to Sleep on the Sealy Posturepedic and the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze
Let’s look at how different sleepers may feel on each of these mattresses.
We recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 250 pounds).
As a general rule, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more.
As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Here’s our take on how different sleepers will experience the Sealy Posturepedic and TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze.
Sealy Posturepedic
Back — The Sealy Posturepedic is an excellent option for back sleepers. The medium-firm feel of the Soft model that offers a nice mix of comfort and support is ideal for these sleepers. Back sleepers who love an even firmer feel could also consider the Firm version of this bed.
Side — Side sleepers should sleep quite comfortably on the Soft version of the Sealy Posturepedic. It is supportive, but offers enough cushioning for the shoulder and hip to prevent pressure buildup.
Stomach — The Soft version of the Sealy Posturepedic isn’t fantastic for stomach sleepers, who will likely find their hips sinking into the material. However, the Firm version may work for some stomach sleepers.
Body Weight — The Sealy Posturepedic should work well for sleepers of all weight groups, as it is a fairly supportive mattress.
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze
Back — Back sleepers should sleep comfortably on the Medium Hybrid TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze, as its medium-firm feel is ideal for them. The upper foams provide lots of pleasant cushioning, while the coils ensure support.
Side — The TEMPUR-Luxe Breeze is a fantastic bed for side sleepers, as its plush foams provide all the contouring these sleepers need to ensure pain-free sleep.
Stomach — Most stomach sleepers will likely find the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze too soft to adequately support their hips. Sinking hips could lead to lower back pain down the line, so we wouldn’t recommend this bed for these folks.
Body Weight — Because of this bed’s supportive coils and thick layers of foam, we think it should work for people of all weight groups.

Cover: The Posturepedic’s cover is an antibacterial knit fabric. The cover also is treated to prevent growth of allergens and bacteria.
Comfort Layer: This first comfort layer is a section of gel-infused memory foam, which conforms to your body and relieves pressure.
Transition Layer: This next layer of foam serves as a transition between the plush comfort layer and the support layer.
Support Layer: The final layer is a section of encased coils, which provide the primary support of the mattress. Coils also allow for airflow within the mattress, which can prevent overheating. Additionally, Sealy says the coils around the edge are reinforced for added edge support.
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze
Cover: The TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze’s cover is made with Tempur-Pedic’s patented SmartClimate technology fabric, which feels cool to the touch. This cover can be removed and machine washed.
Comfort Layer: This bed incorporates several foam layers, which utilize Tempur-Pedic’s proprietary Pure Cool Plus Material and Ventilated Advanced Relief technology, which are intended to maintain a cool temperature. These foam layers provide plush pressure relief, as they contour around the body.
Support Layer: The Medium Hybrid model has a support section of over 1,300 double-stacked innerspring coils. These coils provide support and ventilation. (The Soft and Firm versions of the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze have a foam support layer instead of coils.)

Comparing Sealy and Tempur-Pedic Customer Service
When shopping for a new mattress, you’ll likely have to interact with a brand’s customer service team. Because of this, when we are comparing two mattresses, we like to give the mattress brands a customer service rating, as well. Our rating is on a scale of Poor, Satisfactory, Great, or Stellar.
Sealy Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating
Great: To assess Sealy’s customer service, I tested out their chat feature on the website, which was a chatbot. Frustratingly, this chatbot was not very helpful, as it couldn’t really answer my question, and it also did not give me the option to speak with a real person. However, I still wanted to give Sealy a “great” rating because they do offer phone and email support, as well.
Customer support is offered from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Tempur-Pedic Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating
Great: I did the same test on Tempur-Pedic’s website with the chat box and had essentially the exact same experience — given that these brands are owned by the same parent company, I wasn’t surprised the chatbot experience was so similar. I was able to get answers to basic questions from the chatbot, but not specific recommendations.
However, Tempur-Pedic does offer call and email options as well, so I gave them a great rating. Their customer service is available for calls from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Cocoon Chill Hybrid
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid is another bed from Sealy, made with a combination of foams and coils. It has a slightly firmer-than-average feel — we rated it as a 7 out of 10.
- Price: The Cocoon Chill Hybrid and Posturepedic are in essentially the same price range, but a queen size Cocoon Chill Hybrid is about $100 more expensive than the queen size Posturepedic.
- Sleeping position: The Cocoon Chill works nicely for back and side sleepers, but doesn’t offer the best support for stomach sleepers.
- Cooling: Both of these mattresses are effective at keeping cool, thanks to their hybrid constructions.
- Body weight: Our tester didn’t find the Cocoon Chill Hybrid supportive enough for heavy sleepers, who weigh 250 pounds or more.

- Price: The TEMPUR-Cloud is considerably cheaper than the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze.
- Sleeping position: We recommend this mattress for side and back sleepers.
- Cooling: Without any cooling technology (and no breathable coils in the version we tested), the TEMPUR-Cloud is not a good cooling option.
