Octave is a Canadian mattress brand under the Goodmorning.com umbrella of mattress companies. We’ve reviewed many of the other Goodmorning.com brands here at Sleepopolis, including Logan & Cove, Douglas, Recore, and Brunswick, so I was excited to test the Octave mattresses out.
My colleague Nichole and I tested all three of these beds to compare their firmness and how they feel when laying in different sleeping positions. We also put each of these beds through a series of performance tests on factors like motion isolation, edge support, pressure relief, and more. In this article, I’ll be comparing all three of the Octave mattresses to each other to help you decide which is the best one for you.

Octave Mattess Comparison Video Review
Octave Mattress Similarities
- Foam Construction – All three Octave mattresses have an all-foam construction. They are overall very similar in construction, with slight differences.
- Removable Cover – Each Octave mattress has a removable, machine washable cover.
- Budget Friendly – The Octave mattresses are all fairly affordable options. The most expensive one (the Horizon) is under $1,500 CAD for a queen size, which is a reasonable price point compared to similar mattresses.
- Medium-Firm to Firm Feel – We gave all of the Octave mattresses very similar firmness ratings (6.5 out of 10 for the Vista and Horizon, 7 out of 10 for the Mirage), so they all are fairly similar in feeling medium-firm or just firmer than average.
- Shipping – All three Octave mattresses are beds in a box, meaning they ship compressed and rolled up into a box. They ship for free throughout most of Canada, but customers in some remote locations may have to pay a shipping fee.
- Trial/Warranty – All three Octave mattresses come with the same trial period and warranty — a 365-night trial period to test the beds out at home and a 15-year warranty to cover any defects.
Octave Vista Mattress vs Octave Mirage Mattress vs Octave Horizon Mattress
Now that you have an idea of what is similar between these mattresses, let’s take a look at each individually to highlight their core differences.
Octave Vista Mattress
The Octave Vista is a 12-inch tall memory foam mattress. It’s the least expensive bed that Octave offers, and it has the fewest number of foam layers. This bed offers a medium-firm feel, but still provides deep sinkage.
Construction Specs:
- Cover – Removable cooling cover made with Octave’s CryoFusion cooling nanofibers.
- Comfort Layer – Two inches of memory foam infused with copper and phase change material for cooling.
- Transition Layer – Two inches of Elastex foam, which is springier than traditional foam and is meant to mimic the buoyant feel of latex.
- Support Layer – Eight inches of high-density foam with air channels to allow for airflow.
Firmness: 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This is our standard rating for a medium-firm mattress, the most common mattress firmness. Initially, the Octave Vista feels quite firm, but the longer you lay on it, the more you sink into the contouring material.
Motion Transfer: Low motion transfer, meaning you shouldn’t be disturbed by a partner or pet tossing and turning on this mattress.
Edge Support: Edge support refers to how well the perimeter of the bed bears weight. The Octave Vista has good edge support, particularly for an all-foam mattress. We saw some sinkage in our edge support test, but overall felt supported along the edge.
Pressure Relief: The contouring foams succeed overall in relieving pain on pressure points for back and side sleepers. We did see a small pressure buildup on the shoulder while side sleeping on our pressure map test, but overall the results were good.
We recommend the Octave Vista most to back sleepers, hot sleepers, budget shoppers, couples, and memory foam lovers. Learn more about this mattress in our full Octave Vista mattress review.

Octave Mirage Mattress
The Octave Mirage is a 13-inch tall foam mattress. It is overall very similar to the Octave Vista, but features an additional foam layer — a 1.5-inch aerated latex foam layer. The Octave Mirage also has a slightly firmer than average feel.
Construction Specs:
- Cover – Removable cooling cover made with Octave’s CryoFusion cooling nanofibers.
- Comfort Layer 1 – A 2.5-inch section of memory foam infused with copper and phase change material for cooling.
- Comfort Layer 2 – A 1.5-inch section of latex foam that’s hole-punched to allow for airflow. This is a blend of natural and synthetic latex.
- Transition Layer – Two inches of Elastex foam, which is a latex-alternative foam.
- Support Layer – Seven inches of high-density foam with air vents for circulation.
Firmness: 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The Octave Mirage is just firmer than average and doesn’t allow for quite as much sinkage as the Octave Vista.
Motion Transfer: Good motion isolation. Couples or those who share the bed with a pet may feel some larger movements (like getting in and out of bed), but shouldn’t be disturbed by most smaller movements.
Edge Support: Good edge support. We saw some sinkage around the edge, but overall felt well supported along the perimeter of the mattress.
Pressure Relief: We found the Octave Mirage offered good pressure relief for back sleeping and decent pressure relief for side sleepers. Some side sleepers with more sensitive joints may prefer a more pressure-relieving mattress.
We recommend the Octave Mirage most to back sleepers, hot sleepers, couples, and those who prefer a firmer mattress.

Octave Horizon Mattress
The Octave Horizon is a 14-inch all-foam mattress. It is the most expensive mattress in the Octave mattress line and also has the most layers. This bed also has a medium-firm feel and offers a good amount of sinkage.
Construction Specs:
- Cover – Removable cooling cover made with Octave’s CryoFusion nanofibers.
- Comfort Layer 1 – A 2.5-inch memory foam layer infused with copper and phase change material for cooling.
- Comfort Layer 2 – A 1.5-inch layer of aerated latex foam, made from a blend of natural and synthetic latex.
- Comfort Layer 3 – Two inches of gel-infused foam.
- Transition Layer – Two inches of Elastex foam, a latex alternative.
- Support Layer – Six inches of high-density foam with air channels for circulation.
Firmness: 6.5 out of 10. The Octave Horizon has a medium-firm feel. Like the Octave Vista, it feels firm at first, but conforms around you the longer you lay on the mattress to offer sinkage and contouring.
Motion Transfer: Very low motion transfer. Couples or those who sleep with pets should be largely unaffected by motion on this mattress, save very large movements.
Edge Support: Average edge support. We saw more sinkage on the Octave Horizon than the other two and we didn’t feel very well-supported on the edge.
Pressure Relief: With the deep contouring this mattress offers, we experienced great pressure relief for both back and side sleepers.
We recommend the Octave Horizon mattress to back sleepers, side sleepers, hot sleepers, and memory foam lovers.

Octave Mattress Review Summary
Overall, the Octave mattresses are great memory foam options for Canadian customers. They all offer a lot for their price, with the most expensive model (the Horizon) priced under $1,500 CAD for a queen size. All three of these mattresses are great choices for back sleepers, while the Horizon and Vista work well for side sleepers. None of these beds are particularly good for stomach sleepers, who tend to need a firm mattress that doesn’t allow for sinkage to keep their hips propped up — see better choices in our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
All three of these mattresses are good picks for hot sleepers — we were impressed with how cool they sleep, especially for all-foam mattresses. And the Vista and Mirage are both good choices for couples, because in addition to sleeping cool, they have sturdy edge support and isolate motion well.
Which Octave Mattress Is Best For You?
Back Sleepers – All three of these can work for back sleepers, but the Mirage is probably the best choice, as its slightly firmer feel provides sturdy spinal support.
Side Sleepers – Either the Vista or Horizon are best for side sleepers, as they offer more cushioning around the shoulder and hip.
Stomach Sleepers – None of these mattresses are recommended for stomach sleepers. The Mirage could work for some lightweight stomach sleepers, weighing 130 pounds or less, but otherwise these beds don’t offer enough support for keeping stomach sleepers’ hips in line.
Combination Sleepers – None of these mattresses are especially responsive, meaning it takes some effort to change between sleeping positions. However, the Vista and Horizon can work well for back/side combo sleepers.
Heavy Sleepers – We wouldn’t recommend any of these mattresses to heavy sleepers, who weigh 250 pounds or more. The Octave mattresses are well-suited for light and average body weights, but we think heavy sleepers would be better with a more supportive mattress. See our best mattresses for heavy people for better options.

Logan & Cove
- Logan & Cove is a mattress brand owned by the same parent company as Octave — Goodmorning.com. Logan & Cove offers two hybrid mattresses: the Logan & Cove Choice and Logan & Cove Frontier.
- Both Logan & Cove mattresses are hybrids. The Frontier is basically an upgraded version of the Cove, with added features like a Euro top and a microcoil layer.
- The Logan & Cove Choice has a medium-firm feel that works well for back and side sleepers. The Logan & Cove Frontier has a medium-soft feel that we found to actually work well for all three sleeping positions — despite the softer feel, the microcoil layer provides nice uplift for stomach sleepers without putting pressure on side sleepers’ joints.
