The Endy Hybrid is the newest mattress from Canadian company Endy. It’s similar to their flagship all-foam bed, The Endy, but it offers sleepers extra durability and airflow with added coils. Endy says it contains the “perfect blend of comfort and support.” Whew, talk about a sleeper’s dream come true.
But does it really deliver on these high expectations? That’s where I come in. I tested the Endy Hybrid myself to help find out if it’s the best bed for you. From its materials to its edge support, I’ll let you know how it performs and who I think it’d be the right fit for.

Is the Endy Hybrid a Good Mattress for You?
Let’s start with some quick recommendations for sleepers interested in the Endy Hybrid mattress. Depending on your body weight, height, and preferred sleeping position, this bed may or may not work for you.
To start off, we like to do a “Rest Test” to further test out a mattress’ feel. This means one of us lies down on the bed for an uninterrupted 15-minute power nap. This gives us a comprehensive, big-picture assessment of how it performed before we put it through some more specific tests. Here’s how my colleague Amelia felt about the Endy Hybrid.
“Lying down on the Endy Hybrid, I could immediately tell that it was bouncy, responsive, and had an ‘on-top-of-the bed’ feel. I felt nicely supported on my back, with some cushioning from the plush top layer. I was curious if I would sink into the bed the longer I laid on it, but overall, it maintained its feel for the entire duration. Rolling over to my side, I still felt super-supported, with some cushioning on my shoulders and hips. Personally, I prefer a bed that is softer and allows me to sink in, but I think this is a great option for folks who prefer that elevated feel.”
Now that you have an idea what this mattress is like, let’s go a little deeper.
Who I recommend the Endy Hybrid mattress for
- Back sleepers who enjoy a plush feel should like the Endy Hybrid and its ergonomic lumbar support.
- I think side sleepers would really like this bed and feel nice sinkage around their pressure points thanks to the top foam layers in the mattress.
- Combination sleepers and couples should be able to easily move around on this mattress and also use its full surface.
Who I don’t recommend the Endy Hybrid mattress for
- I think this bed is going to be too soft for most strict stomach sleepers, especially those weighing more than 59 kilograms, or 130 pounds. Instead, I’d recommend checking out a firmer bed in order to ensure proper spinal alignment.
- Sleepers after a classic memory foam feel may want to look at one of our picks in our best memory foam mattress roundup instead of the Endy Hybrid. Although this Endy has cushiony foams, it doesn’t offer a quicksand-like memory foam feel and instead has a hybrid feel with its springs.

How Firm is the Endy Hybrid Mattress?
One of the most important components of a mattress is its firmness level. As with any feel factor, firmness is a subjective measure that could change depending on your body size, shape, or weight. So my opinions could differ from yours. Because of this, I like to include some of my coworkers’ opinions when coming up with my final firmness score.
After laying on the Endy Hybrid, I decided to give it a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, where 1 is ranked the softest and 10 is the most firm. We use 6.5 as the standard for medium-firm, so this bed is right around medium-soft to medium-firm.
Despite having a plush feel, the Endy Hybrid still keeps sleepers propped up on top of the bed rather than allowing them to sink into it.

Endy Hybrid Mattress Performance
More important factors when shopping for a new mattress are your body type, sleeping position, and how well a bed can relieve pressure or pain. It’s also important for couples to look at the different areas it can perform well in for two people sharing a bed. I’ll cover all of this below.
Testing the Endy Hybrid Mattress in Different Sleeping Positions
Different sleeping positions and weights require different amounts of support. Generally, lightweight sleepers don’t require the same amount of support as heavyweight sleepers and a bed will feel firmer to them. Read on below to see how the Endy Hybrid mattress performs for sleepers of different weights.
Is the Endy Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 59 kilograms / 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers should really like this bed. Its zoned support will keep their spine in alignment.
- Light Side Sleepers – I think some of these sleepers could like this bed since it has softer foams on top that allow for pressure relief, but for deeper sinkage I’d check out our choices for the best soft mattresses.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – I think these sleepers could do well on this bed since it keeps sleepers lifted up and will allow their hips to stay in line with their shoulders.
Is the Endy Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (59 – 113 kilograms / 130 – 250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers should likely this bed and feel supported by its pocketed coils.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – Average weight side sleepers should be comfortable on this bed since its conforming foams will hug their shoulders and hips, allowing their spine to stay aligned.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – I worry these sleepers’ hips will sink into this mattress too far, which could cause pain over time, so I’d recommend they look for a firmer mattress to ensure healthy sleep posture.
Is the Endy Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 113 kilograms / 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – I think this mattress will feel quite soft to these sleepers, but they could do well on this mattress if they like a softer feel and weigh less than 136 kilograms, or 300 pounds. However, I always recommend checking out a mattress designed for heavyweight sleepers if you weigh more than 113 kilograms, or 250 pounds.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – Again, these sleepers under 136 kilograms (300 pounds) could like this mattress and get some nice sinkage around their pressure points. But I’d check out our favorite mattresses for heavy sleepers to see more choices.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – This mattress will be too soft for these sleepers. I’d take a look at our best mattresses for heavy people roundup for better options.
Endy Hybrid Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed can alleviate tension at the shoulders, hips, and lower back can be crucial for those who suffer from pain. To see how well the Endy Hybrid relieves pressure, I’m going to use a pressure map.
Basically, I roll out the pressure map device on the bed, lay on top of it, and let the map do the rest. As I move around, the device tracks the force I’m exerting on the bed, producing a colored “map” of results. Blue and green indicate areas of low pressure, while orange and red indicate areas of high pressure.
Back Pain – These were wonderful results for back sleepers with back pain — showing mainly all blues and low pressure. They were also good results for side sleepers with back pain. However, I’d suggest stomach sleepers look for a firmer option for more support beneath their hips.
Shoulder Pain – Back sleepers with shoulder pain should be really comfortable on the Endy Hybrid based on these results. There was some pressure starting to form around my shoulder while side sleeping on the Endy Hybrid, but it’s not too concerning for me. I think it could also be a good fit for lightweight stomach sleepers with shoulder pain.
Hip Pain – My pressure map results were really good for back sleepers with hip pain. You can see pretty much all blue. There’s some pressure forming around the hip while side sleeping, so I’d keep this in mind if you have sensitive joints. As for most strict stomach sleepers, they’ll want a mattress that’s firmer to keep their hips in line with their shoulders.
Endy Hybrid Performance for Couples
When sharing the bed with a partner, you’ll want to keep a few more things in mind than sleepers who get the bed to themselves. Components you’ll want to keep in mind include motion transfer, performance during sex, cooling, and edge support.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer refers to how movement travels from one side of the bed to the other. So it can be a good indication of how likely you are to feel your partner tossing and turning throughout the night.
To illustrate motion transfer, I dropped a 10-pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The Endy Hybrid had average motion isolation results, which isn’t too surprising for a bed with coils. I think you may feel a partner’s bigger movements, like them getting in and out of bed, but you should feel the smaller movements on this bed.
Sex
A mattress that’s good for sex will be bouncy and responsive, so a couple can easily move around on it. The Endy Hybrid fits this bill with its responsive pocketed springs and is good for sex.
Cooling
A couple tends to overheat more than a solo sleeper, so it can be beneficial to find a bed with strong cooling features. The Endy Hybrid has open-cell foam to allow for breathability. Hybrid mattresses, like this Endy, also tend to sleep pretty cool since their pocketed coils inside allow for air to flow through the mattress. Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well the perimeter of a mattress can support weight, so it’s good for couples who want to use the full surface of the bed or anyone who likes to sleep near the edge of the bed. I felt really supported on the sides of the Endy Hybrid and would say it has great edge support.
What is the Endy Hybrid Mattress Made Of?
Now, let’s dig into the materials and layers of this mattress. I do want to point out the Endy Mattress is GREENGUARD Gold Certified and its foams are CertiPUR-US® Certified, which means it’s free of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and ozone depleters.
Cover – The Endy Hybrid’s mattress cover is made from 100 percent polyester and has polyurethane foam quilted inside. This top layer gives the mattress a plush, cushiony feel and allows for some contouring. There are also handles on the side of the mattress for easier carrying.
Comfort Layer – The Endy comfort foam layer is made of 100 percent poly foam. This foam layer has a medium-firm feel and an open-cell structure to keep sleepers both supported and cool.
Transition Layer – Up next is more poly foam that acts as a transition foam. This helps bring sleepers pressure relief, while also transitioning to the next layer of coils.
Support Layer – The support layer consists of high-carbon steel coils wrapped in 100 percent polypropylene. These coils have zoned support, so they offer different levels of support to different areas of your body to help promote spinal alignment.
Base – The final layer is high-density poly foam to help keep everything in place.
Endy Hybrid Unboxing and Off-Gassing
The Endy Hybrid is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it will arrive compressed and will have to be unboxed at home. As with all bed-in-a-box mattresses, you’ll need to wait at least 24 to 48 hours for this bed to fully decompress.
As with many new mattresses, the Endy Hybrid will likely emit a smell when it is first unboxed, which we refer to as off-gassing. The off-gassing is the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from packaging. Although these compounds are not harmful, they do come with a smell. If you have issues with it, I recommend keeping the bed in a well-ventilated room for a few days while it dissipates.

My Favorite Things about the Endy Hybrid Mattress
I really enjoy how the Endy Hybrid has a cushiony feel but also keeps you supported and lifted on top of the mattress. This makes it a great fit for side sleepers, back sleepers, and combination sleepers. I also think a lot of couples could enjoy this bed since it does a good job with isolating motion and preventing heat from trapping.
My Endy Hybrid Mattress Complaints
I think most strict stomach sleepers would want a firm mattress to offer more support beneath the hips and I’d recommend heavier sleepers, weighing more than 113 kilograms (250 pounds), to also check out a more supportive option for them.
