It combines contouring memory foam with sturdy innerspring coils for the perfect blend of comfort and support. But does it truly deliver on the promise of bringing sleepers the best of both worlds?

Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress Overview
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is Nectar’s most luxurious hybrid model. It’s also the hybrid version of the premium all-foam Nectar Luxe, so it combines foam and coils for comfort and support.
This mattress comes at a height of 14 inches and aims to cater to hot sleepers and folks with joint pain. The luxurious nature of the Premier is reflected in its extra comfort layers and cooling cover.
In terms of feel, you might expect a pressure relieving yet bouncy feel. While these foams have the ability to provide lots of good contouring, they also keep us lifted on the mattress, which is key for proper spinal alignment.

What Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress Made Of?
To give you an even more in-depth look at this mattress, I want to go over its layers.
Cover – The Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s cover is a quilted cooling cover with antimicrobial protection, which aims to keep sleepers cool while preventing bacteria growth. Like its all-foam counterpart, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid has the most cool-to-the-touch cover that Nectar has to offer. The minute I jumped into both beds, I could feel their cooling properties right away.
Comfort Layers – Next is 3 inches of contouring memory foam to conform to pressure points. This layer provides pressure relief and support around your back and joints. When trying out the Nectar Luxe Hybrid for myself, I only felt a little sinkage compared to the all-foam Luxe, likely because of the coils. I felt lifted and supported by this mattress, but not cradled like I did in the memory foam version of this bed.
Transition Layer – The transition layer helps ease sleepers down onto the base below it. This layer has 3 inches of Nectar’s high-quality support foam to promote proper spinal alignment and offer additional back support. Despite sinking into the Luxe Hybrid a little bit, I felt supported the entire time and did not notice any of the springs beneath the foam layer.
Base Layer — The support layer is 8-inch individually wrapped coils with edge support. These allow air to flow through the bed, while also making it supportive and durable.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress Firmness
Before we get started, I want to point out that firmness is subjective. A mattress will feel firmer or softer to different sleepers depending on their body weight, shape, and preferred sleeping position. To get an accurate idea of how firm the Nectar Luxe Hybrid feels, I polled a range of coworkers and averaged our scores and firmness levels together.
The industry standard for medium firmness is a 6.5 out of 10. The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a soft, bouncy feel. I ultimately gave it a 6 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale, so it’s what I consider a medium-soft mattress.
Sleeping Position and Body Weight
We recognize that people come in all shapes and sizes, and people of every size deserve a mattress that works for their body type. We use the weight categories light, average, and heavy to more easily categorize sleepers based on how mattresses will perform for their body type, as most mattresses are designed for the group we call “average” (130 to 250 pounds).
As a general rule, lighter sleepers don’t require as much support as average weight sleepers, and mattresses will tend to feel firmer to them. On the other hand, heavy sleepers tend to need more support than average weight sleepers and tend to sink into the mattress more.
As far as sleeping positions go, side sleepers tend to need a softer mattress while stomach sleepers usually need a firmer, more supportive one. Back sleepers are usually somewhere in the middle.
Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – These sleepers should feel like they’re sleeping on a cloud on this mattress. The cushiony foams will fill in their lumbar region nicely.
- Light Side Sleepers – I think the Nectar Luxe Hybrid could work for a lot of these sleepers since it does have softer foams that cradle your joints, but some strict side sleepers may want to check out an even softer mattress for more pressure relief. - Light Stomach Sleepers – Like most lightweight back sleepers, these stomach sleepers should enjoy the Nectar Luxe Hybrid. They should get plenty of support from the bed’s springs to keep their spines in a healthy position as they sleep.
Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 – 250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – I think this hybrid will be great for these sleepers on the search for both pressure relief and support. As a back sleeper myself, I could instantly feel the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s pressure-relieving magic as soon as I laid down on it.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – I thought this hybrid did an excellent job for side sleeping and gave my joints needed contouring and relief.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a home run for these sleepers. Normally, I would recommend a firmer mattress for these sleepers, but I thought the Luxe Hybrid did an excellent job at elevating my hips and keeping my spine in a neutral position.
Is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – I think these sleepers who want a softer feel will be comfortable on this bed. However, a lot of these sleepers may want a firmer option to feel more supported.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – These sleepers should feel comfortable on this mattress due to its top layer of foam and supported thanks to the bottom coils.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I don’t think this mattress is firm enough for these sleepers. Instead, I’d check out some of our favorite mattresses for heavy people for more choices.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress Performance
A big part of what we do here at Sleepopolis is run a series of tests on each mattress we review. This helps our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches get an objective view of what it would be like to sleep on them. These tests also allow us to make even more specific recommendations in addition to sleeping position and body type. Below, see how the Nectar Luxe Hybrid performs in areas such as pain relief, motion transfer, cooling, and more.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Pain Relief Performance
How well a bed alleviates pressure at the shoulders and hips is important for every sleeper to consider, especially if anyone struggles with pain concerns. A mattress with good pressure relief can help prevent and ease soreness and stiffness.
I measured the pressure relief on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress by using a pressure map. A pressure map uses heat mapping technology to show where pressure is forming while lying on the mattress. I placed the pressure map on top of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and moved into different sleeping positions to show you how it responds to body weight. Blue to green areas indicate low pressure while orange to red areas show high pressure. We cover three different areas: back pain, shoulder pain, and hip pain.
Before looking at the results below, you’ll definitely want to take your sleeping position into account. For example, we don’t recommend this mattress to stomach sleepers, because while it provides amazing pressure relief for most, those in the prone position need something a bit more supportive.
Overall, we found that the Nectar Luxe Hybrid should be an outstanding option for most back and side sleepers, whether they suffer from back pain, shoulder pain, or hip pain. The results show low pressure buildup across the board.
Motion Transfer
When I measure a mattress’s motion transfer, I’m essentially seeing how much movement ripples across its surface when there’s a disturbance. This is important if you share your bed with a partner or pet, because it indicates whether or not you’re going to feel disturbed when they move around at night. I measure motion transfer using a couple of different tests. Let’s take a look at the results.
Human Test
First, I had my coworker move around on the other side of the bed to see how much of his movement I could feel. On the Nectar Luxe Hybrid, I could feel some of his movements. However, they didn’t impact my side of the mattress that much. I still wouldn’t recommend this bed to couples who wake easily.
Water Test
Next, I placed a glass of water next to me on the bed while I moved around. If the liquid stays still, it’s an indicator of good motion isolation. During this test, I could see the liquid move a little bit as I got in and out of bed and changed between different sleeping positions. These results are pretty normal for a hybrid mattress because these beds tend to transfer more motion from either side of the mattress.
Seismometer Test
Finally, I used a seismometer to measure the disturbance caused by dropping a steel ball onto the mattress from various heights. The higher the vibration, the bigger the disturbance.
These were pretty average motion transfer results, which isn’t too surprising for a hybrid mattress. I’d say you shouldn’t feel a partner’s small movements, like them changing sleeping positions, but might feel them getting in and out of bed.
Responsiveness
At our mattress lab, we test responsiveness by pressing down on its top layer, removing our hand, and seeing how quickly the surface returns to its original shape. Memory foam usually has a low response to pressure, while hybrid mattresses with coils tend to have a high response to pressure. Responsive mattresses are usually good for combination sleepers who switch sleeping positions at night, because it’s easier to change positions and move around. This is also why responsive beds are good for sex.
After testing this bed, I think the Nectar Luxe Hybrid has a good level of responsiveness. Its coils bring the bed bounce and its soft foams quickly retake shape after movement.
Cooling
Several factors contribute to a mattress’s cooling ability. First and foremost, we consider its construction. Since the Nectar Luxe Hybrid has special cooling properties, specifically its quilted cooling cover, I think it should be a competitive match for hot sleepers. Its hybrid construction also makes it breathable by nature, as the coils allow extra room for airflow.
And as with all of the mattresses I test at the Sleepopolis lab, I measured the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s surface temperature with a thermal gun. This is a device that uses thermal imaging to show how much a bed heats up after I lie down on it for five minutes. If the temperature increases more than 15 degrees Fahrenheit, I consider it to have poor cooling capabilities. 10 to 15 degrees indicates decent cooling, 5 to 10 degrees indicates good cooling, and less than 5 degrees indicates excellent cooling.
As you can see above, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid only heated up about 3 degrees, thus confirming its excellent cooling abilities.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how well the perimeter of the bed supports weight and whether you can sleep all the way on the side of the bed without feeling like you’re going to fall off. Edge support can also be a good measure of a mattress’ durability and whether it may sag over time.
I think the Nectar Luxe Hybrid has sturdy edge support overall. It sank a little while sitting on the edge of the bed, but it kept me fully supported while laying there. When I used a tape measure to see how much the layers collapsed beneath my weight, there was only 1 inch of sinkage.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Performance For Couples
If you sleep with a partner, you’re going to want to keep all of these factors in mind. For example, you’ll want to know how well your mattress absorbs motion, whether or not it’s responsive and therefore good for sex, if it has strong and sturdy edges, and if it will keep you both cool.
And since the Luxe Hybrid tested considerably well in all aspects, I feel confident recommending this bed for most couples. It balanced its responsiveness and its motion isolation abilities well. Furthermore, this mattress tested well in both cooling and edge support.
My Final Thoughts about the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress
Before we wrap up this review and I bid you adieu, I want to highlight some of my favorite components of the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid along with some of my not-so-favorite ones.

- Back sleepers and side sleepers should enjoy the cushioning comfort the top foams of the Luxe Hybrid offer.
- Combination sleepers or anyone looking to easily move around on their mattress should appreciate the bounciness of this bed.
- I think couples will like the features of this mattress that will allow them to use the full surface of the bed and not overheat.
Who I don’t recommend the Luxe Hybrid Mattress for
- Heavier stomach sleepers will likely want a firmer mattress so their hips don’t dip down and curve their spine. I’d recommend looking at one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers instead.
- Anyone looking for a slow-moving, quicksand-like foam bed will probably find the foams in this bed too responsive and soft. The all-foam Nectar Luxe would be a better option.
