Best Mattress in Canada

Americaโ€™s neighbor to the north has a reputation for many great things โ€” among them friendliness, maple syrup, and, of course, hockey. However, Canada is also becoming known for manufacturing some world-class mattresses. Although shipping costs and supply chain issues prevent some U.S.-based mattress makers from sending their mattresses northbound, others are doing so, to the delight of consumers. So I figured it was time to put together this list of the best Canadian mattresses. All of these beds are either manufactured in Canada, or shipped there conveniently from the United States.

Because the right mattress can increase your sleep and overall quality of life, our sleep experts and certified sleep science coaches have tested more than 375 mattresses so that we can bring you recommendations based on hands-on evaluations and quantitative data. Among these hundreds of beds, there are dozens that are fully Canadian-made, and we got our hands on about 20 of them to test. Below, youโ€™ll find the ones we deemed the best of the best mattresses from Canada.

Sleepopolisโ€™ Best In Rest โ€“ Canada

The Silk & Snow Hybrid is our top Canadian pick because itโ€™s bouncy and responsive, and is a good fit for sleepers suffering from back pain.

How We Picked the Best Canadian Mattress

Firmness is an essential testing category because it plays a major role in how a mattress feels and who itโ€™s best suited for. Rather than recommending the same firmness for everyone, weโ€™ve included mattresses across a range of firmness levels to accommodate different sleeping positions, body types, and comfort preferences.

This list has a variety of options to fit different sleep styles and needs, whether youโ€™re a side sleeper who prefers plush cushioning or a back or stomach sleeper who needs firmer support.

Pressing down on the Serta Perfect Sleeper Kendall X Mattress

To test pressure relief, we place a specialized mat over the mattress, which then records and displays where pressure builds up in the side- and back-sleeping positions. The data is transmitted to a computer, creating a color-coded graphic called a โ€œpressure mapโ€ that helps us determine how comfortable a bed might be for certain areas of the body.

The pressure map measures pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI) to calculate an overall pressure relief score. Over time, we have found that the average PSIs for back and side sleeping are 12.4 and 14.9, respectively. A lower-than-average PSI usually means that the bed is less prone to pressure buildup in those positions.

Our testers generating pressure maps

Your mattress should provide enough support to keep your spine aligned while youโ€™re lying on your back. The right balance of sinkage and lift will help you maintain the natural S-curve of your spine.

A high-quality mattress should provide consistent support from corner to corner, so you feel just as stable at the perimeter as you do in the center. Edge support is also a good indicator of durability, which is why we prioritized mattresses that scored at least a 4 out of 5 in the edge support category.

Seated edge support test on the Serta Perfect Sleeper Cascade Range Mattress

Weโ€™ve developed a rigorous testing methodology that tells us how each mattress performs and who it might be a good fit for. All of the beds on this list have been evaluated for pressure relief, cooling abilities, responsiveness, edge support, and much more.

Our team of certified sleep science coaches has tested more than 500 mattresses over the last decade, allowing us to guide more than 145,000 people to the best mattress for them. Not only do we use and evaluate these products ourselves, but we also consult with doctors and other professionals to ensure we keep up to date with the latest in sleep science and medicine. For example, Dr. Joe Tedesco (DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS) comes into our studio to personally test mattresses and give a medical perspective on each product.

As an affordable option with a medium-firm feel, we think that the Silk & Snow Hybrid should appeal to a wide variety of sleepers, including back sleepers, side sleepers, hot sleepers, and budget shoppers. Learn more in our full video review, where we compare the Silk & Snow Hybrid to the original Silk & Snow, which doesnโ€™t have coils.

What our tester says:

โ€œThe Silk & Snow Hybrid is a great middle ground firmness for those who donโ€™t want an ultra-firm bed, but also want to feel well-supported.โ€ โ€“ Amelia Jerden, senior staff writer

Why Itโ€™s the Best Canadian Mattress Overall

  • The Silk & Snow offers excellent value at its price point, offering performance that rivals many more expensive mattresses.
  • Couples should appreciate its standout cooling and motion isolation.
  • Its balanced medium-firm feel can accommodate a wide range of sleepers.

Dr. Tedescoโ€™s Notes

We invited our chief medical product tester and licensed physical therapist, Dr. Joe Tedesco, DPT, OCS, ATC, CSCS, to share his opinion on the Silk & Snow Hybrid. After spending some time with the Silk & Snow, he thinks itโ€™s a great choice for folks who sleep on their back.

โ€œMy head is supported, my lower back is supported,โ€ he said. โ€œI actually donโ€™t even feel like I need a pillow while lying on my back.โ€

Our Expert Opinion

To evaluate a mattressโ€™s materials closely, we cut a cross-section into the side of each bed. When I first opened the Silk and Snow Hybrid, I thought I had gotten the wrong mattress. The foam around the bedโ€™s perimeter is so thick that I was convinced it was an all-foam mattress, and that the โ€œhybridโ€ in its name was a mistake โ€” or that I had gotten the wrong bed.

However, not only is the bed constructed with both foam and coils, but due to its score of 4 or higher in pressure relief, motion isolation, and response, it was our pick for best overall Canadian mattress. I was particularly impressed by the pressure relief I felt on my back, and noted that I thought the Silk & Snow Hybrid offered the perfect balance of support and contouring.

That said, the Silk & Snow Hybridโ€™s balanced support does not extend to its perimeter, which is why it only scored a 3.6 out of 5 in our edge support category. This is likely because the coils donโ€™t extend all the way to the sides of the bed. Instead, the Silk & Snowโ€™s edge support comes from a dense foam perimeter.

I also wouldnโ€™t recommend this mattress to stomach sleepers. Most stomach sleepers will likely find that the Silk & Snow Hybrid is too soft to elevate their hips and maintain healthy spinal alignment. Too much sinkage around the hips can lead to back pain over time.

Choose the Silk & Snow Hybrid if โ€ฆ

  • You want an affordable mattress that suits numerous sleep styles.
  • You and your partner want a mattress that keeps things cool and effectively isolates motion.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • If you sleep on your stomach, have mobility issues, or gravitate toward the edge of the bed, I would avoid this bed and consider the Douglas Mattress

The Emma Hybrid Comfort is a firm mattress with a durable hybrid construction. It works well for heavyweight stomach and back sleepers, as it provides enough support to keep these sleepersโ€™ spines in neutral alignment. In addition to making it a good choice for heavier people, the Emma Hybrid Comfortโ€™s design also gives it nice breathability and responsiveness, meaning it stays cool as you sleep and is easy to move around on.

What our tester says:

โ€œAfter five minutes of lying on the Emma Hybrid Comfort, it increased 7.7 degrees. This indicates good temperature regulation. I really did feel cool when resting on it. Considering this, the airy hybrid construction, and the additional cooling features, I feel that the Emma Hybrid Comfort is one of the best cooling mattresses.โ€ โ€“ Amelia Jerden, senior staff writer

Why Itโ€™s the Best Hybrid Canadian Mattress

  • Its sturdy coils and firmer-than-average feel make it supportive enough for sleepers with bigger bodies.
  • The Emmaโ€™s breathable materials should be a hit among hot sleepers.
  • The Emma Hybrid Comfort is highly responsive, meaning it is easy to change sleeping positions on this mattress without feeling stuck in its layers.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Testerโ€™s Notes

One of our expert testers said, โ€œThe multiple foam layers add some softness and contouring, while a layer of sturdy coils provides the support that prevented me from sinking too far into the mattressโ€™s bottom layers.โ€

In addition to his hands-on evaluation, he also used a specialized mat that reads how much pressure his body felt when he was lying on the Emma. He felt virtually no pressure when on his back, and found the bed very comfortable for back and stomach sleeping.

Our Expert Opinion

People often opt for hybrid mattresses because their construction of foam and coils can provide an optimal blend of comfort and support. That was definitely the case with the Emma Hybrid Comfort, which earned solid scores across all of the performance categories while shining brightly in support (4.5/5), materials (4/5), and pressure relief (a perfect 5/5). This led our team to select it as the best hybrid Canadian mattress (Emma is based in Germany but offers free shipping to all Canadian provinces).

While most sleepers will enjoy this bed, it will likely be too firm for those who weigh less than 130 pounds. I also wouldnโ€™t recommend this mattress to those who love the classic, slow-moving feel of memory foam. These sleepers wonโ€™t get that sinking sensation on this mattress because of its hybrid construction and firmer feel.

Choose the Emma Hybrid Comfort if โ€ฆ

  • You are a strict stomach sleeper or prefer an extra-firm and supportive sleep surface.
  • You and your partner are sensitive to motion at night. The Emma mattress does an excellent job of dampening motion and preventing it from ripping across the bedโ€™s surface.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You are a lightweight sleeper. This mattress is likely too firm for those who weigh less than 130 pounds.
  • You love the classic, slow-moving feel of memory foam. These sleepers wonโ€™t get that sinking sensation on this mattress because of its hybrid construction and firmer feel. Check out the Logan & Cove Frontier if you fall into either of these categories.

The Polysleep Sierra is a simple all-foam bed with two layers, but itโ€™s a good bet for budget shoppersโ€”especially if they prefer to sleep on their backs. Itโ€™s more responsive and cooling than your average foam mattress, and it feels just a smidge softer than medium-firm for some nice cushioning. However, we donโ€™t recommend it for couples or heavyweight folks.

What our tester says:

โ€œI felt comfortable lying on my back toward the center of the mattress โ€ฆ I didnโ€™t feel like I was sinking too much around my hips or my shoulders. Again, I think folks who are on the lighter side will fare better on this bed because it should feel closer to medium-firm for them, which is ideal for back sleepers.โ€ โ€“ Kenny Timper, staff writer and certified sleep science coach

Why Itโ€™s the Best Canadian Mattress for Combination Sleepers

  • The Polysleepโ€™s bouncy surface makes it easy for sleepers to adjust themselves and get comfortable at night.
  • Hot sleepers should appreciate the Polysleepโ€™s above-average cooling capabilities.
  • Its soft surface should appeal to sleepers who prefer to feel hugged by their mattress.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Tester Notes

The mattress falls at a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, meaning itโ€™s a medium-soft mattress that balances cushioning and sturdy support, both of which are important for back sleepers. When our expert tester Riley Otis evaluated the bed for pressure relief when back sleeping, she enjoyed subtle sinkage while still maintaining a straight, neutral spinal position.

โ€œWhile there was some sinkage at my hips, I still felt comfortable and didnโ€™t experience any pressure building at my lower back,โ€ she said. Although there wasnโ€™t enough sinkage to misalign Rileyโ€™s spine, heavy sleepers may find themselves sinking in too far at the hips, so she rated the mattress 4 stars for back-sleeping pressure relief.

Our Expert Opinion

When you switch between two or more sleeping positions at night, we call it combination sleeping. For these tossing-and-turning sleepers, there are two important factors to keep in mind when trying a new mattress โ€” pressure relief and responsiveness.

If you sleep in different positions, itโ€™s crucial to find a mattress that provides adequate pressure relief and comfort regardless of how youโ€™re oriented. Responsiveness is also something to consider, as youโ€™ll want to easily transition from one position to the next without feeling stuck in the mattress. We chose the Polysleep Sierra as the best Canadian mattress for combination sleepers because itโ€™s compatible with multiple sleeping positions and earned 4 stars on our responsiveness tests.

Although this model is a great choice for combination sleepers, I donโ€™t recommend it to those who sleep with a partner due to its 3-star performance on our motion isolation test. If youโ€™re tossing and turning throughout the night, the bed wonโ€™t absorb your motion, and your partner will be able to feel you moving around. The mattress warranty also only earned 3 stars, as itโ€™s only viable for 5 years.

Choose the Polysleep Sierra if โ€ฆ

  • You are looking for an all-foam mattress at an affordable price.
  • You want a soft mattress that can conform to an adjustable base.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You are a strict stomach sleeper. This mattress will not provide enough support to keep your spine in a neutral position.
  • You and your partner need something that can effectively dampen motion. If youโ€™re seeking a better mattress for couples, try the Silk & Snow Hybrid.

What our tester says:

โ€œCombination sleepers should like Endy. Itโ€™s got the right touch of firmness and pressure relief for those switching up positions during the night. โ€ โ€“ Logan Block, former content director

Why Itโ€™s the Best Canadian Memory Foam Mattress

  • Like many other high-quality memory foam mattresses, the Endy Original does a fabulous job of dampening motion, making it a great choice for those who share their bed with a restless partner.
  • Unlike many other all-foam models, the Endy Original doesnโ€™t retain much body heat.
  • The Endy Original has surprisingly solid edge support; our mattress testers were able to lie and sit on the sides of this bed without feeling unstable.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Tester Notes

When our in-house mattress tester tried this mattress, he said, โ€œThe Endy gave me that deep hug-like feeling that so many sleepers love about all-foam beds.โ€

Our tester also pointed out how the mattress relieved pressure around his joints by contouring around them, and his pressure maps backed this up. He used a specialized mat that captured color-coded thermal images to highlight where pressure built up when resting on the Endy.

His pressure maps showed almost all blue when he was on his back, indicating virtually no pressure in this position. There was only a tiny speck of green mixed in with the blue when he was on his side, signaling that this mattress offered exemplary relief on his side as well.

Our Expert Opinion

Hugs release endorphins1, which, in turn, help you relax. If feeling embraced while you sleep seems like a dream come true, youโ€™ll want to check out the Endy Original โ€” our testersโ€™ pick for best Canadian memory foam mattress. This bed comes in at a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, meaning itโ€™s a little softer than medium firm. It also earned a 4 or above in support, cooling, and motion transfer.

This budget-friendly mattress also tested well for responsiveness, an attribute not always seen in memory foam. This makes it a solid choice for combination sleepers and sexually active couples, as it will allow both groups to reposition easily. However, I think that stomach sleepers wonโ€™t receive the support they need with this softer mattress, and I recommend they check out one of our choices for the best mattress for stomach sleepers.

Similarly, sleepers with bigger bodies will likely not get the support needed to keep their spines in a healthy position from the Endy Original.

Choose the Endy Original if โ€ฆ

  • Youโ€™re a lightweight or average-weight sleeper seeking a mattress with excellent pressure relief.
  • You are a hot sleeper who wants the hugging feel of memory foam without the heat retention.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You sleep on your stomach. Most strict stomach sleepers will not get enough support at their hips to maintain healthy spinal alignment on this mattress.
  • You need a mattress that can support 230 pounds or more. This bed is too soft to support sleepers with bigger bodies. We recommend these sleepers check out the Emma Hybrid instead.

A queen size is available for under $1,000 before discounts, which is very affordable.
Our pressure map test showed almost no pressure buildup in the back-sleeping position, meaning this is probably a good mattress for back pain.
Cons of the Octave Vista
Stomach sleepers will probably need a firmer and more supportive mattress than the Octave Vista.

A budget option with a medium-firm feel, we recommend the Octave Vista for back sleepers, side sleepers, combination sleepers, and budget shoppers. Learn more in our full video review.

What our tester says:

โ€œThe Octave Vista is a great match for average weight back sleepers. It offers plenty of support for spinal alignment, but its slow-sinking foam provides pleasant contouring and pressure relief, especially around the lower back.โ€ โ€“ Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer

Why Itโ€™s the Best Best Canadian Mattress for Back Sleepers

  • We gave the Octave Vista a 4-star pressure relief score because it kept our spines in a healthy, neutral position across multiple positions, including our backs.
  • Its consistent corner-to-corner support ensures you receive the same level of support on the sides as in the center of the bed.
  • The Vistaโ€™s medium-firm feel hits the sweet spot for most back sleepers, thanks to its balance of cushioning and support.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Tester Notes

One of our in-house Sleepopolis mattress experts noted that the high-density support foams at the foundation of this bed contributed to its impressive scores. He loved that his body was sufficiently elevated. This top-notch support kept him from sinking too far down in the mattress, which can cause awkward spinal alignment.

โ€œThis bed is soft without being too soft, and keeps my spine neutrally aligned,โ€ our tester said.

Our Expert Opinion

Back sleepers typically benefit from a medium-firm mattress that provides proper spinal alignment and support. When we tested the Octave Vista, our testers thought it may have been too firm for back sleepers. However, after some time, we found that it had a more medium-firm feel and surprisingly excellent contouring.

This mattress received 4.5 out of 5 scores in motion isolation and support and a 4 in pressure relief, buoying the Vista into our top pick for Canadian back sleepers.

Choose the Octave Vista if โ€ฆ

  • You are a back sleeper who prefers a balanced, medium-firm sleep surface.
  • You and your partner are looking for a mattress that can keep both of you cool and dampen motion.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You need a mattress that can support heavier weights. During testing, we found that this mattress sank too much for support sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or more.
  • You are a combination sleeper. If you like to move around on your mattress, the Silk & Snow Hybrid will likely be a better choice.

If youโ€™re a Canadian resident looking for a versatile foam mattress, set your sights on the original Douglas mattress. Different foam layers give the mattress its softer foam feel (some for cooling, some for contouring, and some for support), but you should still find ease of movement on this bed. Its cooling features and impressive testing scores show us this bed is suitable for a wide variety of sleepers. For more, see our video review.

What our tester says:

โ€œMy favorite thing about the Douglas was its benefits for combination sleepers. Not only is it just soft enough to keep them comfortable, but it also allows them to change positions and move around with ease. It has a memory foam feel that should conform to the body quite nicely, which will be a plus for side sleepers as well.โ€ โ€“ Logan Block, former Sleepopolis content director and mattress tester

Why Itโ€™s the Best Best Affordable Canadian Mattress

  • Most side sleepers will appreciate the deep pressure relief that the Douglas provides.
  • The Douglas sleeps cool, so those who tend to run hot should fare well on this model.
  • Changing positions is easy on the Douglas, which is great news for combo sleepers.

Tester Notes

If you like to sleep close to the edge of the bed or sit on it to get dressed, youโ€™ll find that the Douglas provides a sturdy perimeter. In fact, it was one of the features that impressed our team most.

โ€œI felt comfortable back sleeping and side sleeping, getting the right blend of comfort and support for my shoulders, hips, and lower back,โ€ said one of our in-house testers.

Our Expert Opinion

The Douglas Original Mattress is proudly made in Canada using Canadian-sourced materials that wonโ€™t bust your budget. Iโ€™m always telling anyone who will listen (and, often, those who wonโ€™t) that when it comes to mattresses, inexpensive doesnโ€™t necessarily mean cheaply made. Beds like the Douglas, our pick for the best affordable Canadian mattress, prove my point.

Unlike other mattress brands, Douglasโ€™s manufacturer, GoodMorning.com, cuts costs by working with trusted Canadian suppliers and manufacturers to build and ship mattresses directly to consumers, eliminating middlemen, commissions, and inflated markups. The result is a budget-friendly bed, with a queen size coming in at C$799, and one that is also incredibly well-rounded. This is shown by the mattress receiving a 4 or above in every category we score, including a 4.5 in motion isolation, cooling, pressure relief, and edge support.

However, as versatile as this mattress is, we donโ€™t recommend it for sleepers with bigger bodies. Those who weigh more than 230 pounds probably wonโ€™t receive the kind of support they need, leading to increased pressure relief and awkward spinal alignment.

Choose the Douglas if โ€ฆ

  • Youโ€™re a hot sleeper looking for a mattress that will keep you cool, crisp, and comfortable.
  • You need a soft surface to cradle pressure-prone areas like the hips and shoulders.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You prefer a firm mattress feel. At 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, the Douglas is definitely on the softer side.
  • You need a mattress that can support heavier bodies. The Douglas is too soft to keep these sleepersโ€™ spines in a healthy position. For a more supportive mattress, consider the Emma Hybrid instead.

Even though itโ€™s a hybrid mattress with a layer of springs in the support layer, the Casper Atlas Hybrid gave me a soft and contouring feel. I think it could be really comfortable for folks who sleep on their sides, while still being supportive enough for back sleepers. Learn more in our full video review.

What our tester says:

โ€œThis bed is responsive and bouncy enough for light and average-weight combination sleepers. These sleepers shouldnโ€™t have any issues switching between different positions at night. I would [also] recommend this bed to lightweight and average side sleepers with shoulder pain. During the pressure relief test, my colleague and I found that this bed did a good job of relieving tension around the shoulders.โ€ โ€“ Kenny Timper, staff writer

Why Itโ€™s the Best Canadian Mattress for Side Sleepers

  • Our testers found that the Casper Atlas Hybrid provided excellent pressure relief in their shoulders while lying on their sides.
  • The Atlas Hybridโ€™s responsive surface makes it easy for sleepers to switch positions if they start to feel stiff at night.
  • At 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, this mattress should be soft enough for most people to get the cushioning they need in their shoulders, hips, and other pressure-prone areas.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Tester Notes

Kenny Timper, staff writer and mattress reviewer, tested the pressure relief of the Atlas with a specialized mat that he spread over one side of the bed and then lay on top of it. The mat creates pressure maps that use color-coded thermal images to indicate where pressure is building in Kennyโ€™s body. Kennyโ€™s side pressure map was blue with some green mixed in, highlighting that this mattress is a solid choice for side sleepers.

He said, โ€œThe pressure relief around my hips was fantastic. Further, I think most back and side sleepers will enjoy it.โ€

Our Expert Opinion

If youโ€™re like me and have difficulty drifting to sleep if youโ€™re not on your side, youโ€™ll want to check out the Casper Atlas Hybrid Mattress, our pick for the best Canadian mattress for side sleepers. Side sleepers will benefit from the bedโ€™s deep sinkage. The slow-moving foam found in the upper comfort layers provides a more โ€œinโ€ the bed feeling than โ€œonโ€ the bed, giving side sleepersโ€™ joints plenty of contouring and cushioning. The medium-firm Atlas received a 4 in support, responsiveness, and edge support, and a 4.5 in pressure relief.

However, we wouldnโ€™t recommend this bed-in-a-box for sleepers with larger bodies. While this is one of the best memory foam mattresses for many side sleepers, the Casper Atlas Hybridโ€™s springs are too short to support sleepers over 230 pounds, and they will likely sink through the memory foam and feel their coils along their hips, ribs, and shoulders.

We also wouldnโ€™t recommend this mattress to couples who prefer to use the entire surface of the bed. These sleepers will have a hard time getting comfortable on the Casper Atlas Hybrid mattress due to its less-than-stellar edge support.

Choose the Casper Atlas Hybrid if โ€ฆ

  • You are a combination sleeper who needs a mattress that is easy to move around on.
  • You are a side sleeper looking for a mattress that will offer deep contouring and pressure relief in your hips and shoulders.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You need a mattress that can support bigger bodies. The innerspring coils in the Atlas Hybrid compress too much to support weights heavier than 230 pounds.
  • You have mobility concerns or gravitate toward the side of the bed when you sleep. If youโ€™re looking for a taller mattress with stronger edge support, check out the Polysleep Origin mattress instead.

The Logan & Cove Frontier is rare in that itโ€™s a soft mattress thatโ€™s also supportive enough for all three sleeping positions. Whether youโ€™re a back sleeper, side sleeper, or stomach sleeper, you should the right balance of contouring and support to sleep comfortably. Learn more in our full video review.

What our tester says:

โ€œFor most people, it can work well for all three sleeping positions and is responsive enough to make it easy to change between positions.โ€ โ€“ Amelia Jerden, senior staff writer

Why Itโ€™s the Best Canadian Pillow-Top Mattress

  • The pillow-top cover of the Logan & Cover Frontier gives this bed a luxurious, hotel-mattress-like feel.
  • The Logan & Cove Frontierโ€™s above-average motion isolation, edge support, cooling, and responsiveness scores make it a great fit for couples.
  • Combo sleepers should love that the Frontier is responsive enough to move around while being comfortable in nearly every sleeping position.

How Did It Perform During Testing?

Tester Notes

As soon as our in-house mattress tester lay on the pressure map to see where tension builds up on this mattress, she said, โ€œThe Euro pillow top is so comfortable. On my back, it feels like it is giving me a little hug.โ€

However, when she switched to her side, her pressure map showed a few yellow and even light red spots around her hips and shoulders. Typically, we would deduct at least half a point from this score because of this. However, our tester said she felt comfortable in this position and still awarded it a perfect 5 out of 5.

Our Expert Opinion

Falling into a soft, cloud-like luxury mattress like the Logan & Cove Frontier can be the perfect end to a long day. However, plushness is not all this bed has to offer. It scored a 4 or higher in all performance categories and grabbed a 4.5 in support and cooling and a flawless 5 in pressure relief.

During testing, our in-house mattress expert evaluated her pressure maps, which are color-coded thermal images of pressure buildup, and noticed that her back-sleeping image was all blue with a small amount of green, indicating little to no pressure.

As comfortable as the Logan & Cover Frontier is, no mattress is a perfect fit for everyone, and this model is no exception. Sleepers who love a mattress that wraps them in a deep embrace will likely not get the sinkage they desire with the Logan & Cove Frontier. The Frontier offers a more โ€œonโ€ rather than an โ€œinโ€ bed one. We also wouldnโ€™t recommend the Frontier to side sleepers for the same reason. Side sleepers with joint pain may find the microcoil layer puts unnecessary pressure on their shoulder and hip.

Choose the Logan & Cove Frontier if โ€ฆ

  • You prefer a mattress with a cloud-like pillow top.
  • Pain relief is a top priority for you. Our testers gave the Frontier a rare 5 out of 5 in the pressure relief category.

Keep looking if โ€ฆ

  • You want to sink into your mattress. As comfortable as the pillow top is, it doesnโ€™t envelop you in the same way that a traditional memory foam mattress does. For sleepers seeking that slow-moving feel, we recommend checking out the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud instead.

For more information about this bed, read our full Logan & Cover Frontier mattress review.

Latest Updates: In July of 2026, we updated our Best Canadian Mattress roundup to reflect our most up-to-date data. We also revisited the lineup to confirm it was still showcasing the top picks in this category.

Other Mattresses Available in Canada We Researched

While only a select few can make our best-of list, there are many worthy contenders that we tested and evaluated. Here are three that just missed the final cut.

Avocado Eco Organic Mattress โ€“ This is one of the Avocado brandโ€™s more affordable options โ€” sustainably made with many of the same organic materials, but a little less expensive. However, I left it off the list because it doesnโ€™t work well for stomach sleepers and folks who weigh over 230 pounds, and we already had several mattresses that didnโ€™t fit those criteria in this roundup.

Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite โ€“ The testers who spent time with this bed loved it for its cooling capabilities and enhanced features. However, since the bed is fairly new, not all of our testers have gotten to try it out. Therefore, we decided to wait and gather more feedback before we put it on a best-of-the-best roundup.

How We Picked and Tested the Best Canadian Mattresses

Our team of certified sleep science coaches and mattress experts have reviewed more than 375 beds in our mattress lab, running each one through hands-on tests such as pressure mapping and measuring motion transfer with a seismometer. All of the mattresses on this roundup scored a 4 out of 5 or higher in at least four of the below testing categories. The one exception is firmness, which is scored on a different scale altogether (more on that below).

But for the Best Canadian Mattresses roundup, we also considered some unique additional criteria. Naturally, we started with brands based in Canada, with special attention paid to companies manufacturing products in the Great White North. We then rounded out the list with a handful of companies headquartered in other parts of the world, but who have since set up shop in Canada or begun shipping there.

Key Testing Categories for the Best Canadian Mattresses

Firmness

Firmness is an essential aspect of all mattresses, but every sleeper has a unique preference for the kind of firmness they like. Further, different firmness levels may be better for particular groups of sleepers and more beneficial for specific types of pain or pressure relief. I used our expertly developed firmness scale to evaluate the firmness level of every mattress in this list and every mattress we test at Sleepopolis.

The firmness scale ranks mattresses from 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm, and 6.5 considered medium-firm, which is the industry standard (one study even found that beds with a medium-firm feel are generally better for promoting sleep comfort, quality, and spinal alignment).

To rate a mattressโ€™s firmness, I have several of our expert mattress testers lie on the mattress in various sleeping positions and provide a firmness number, which I then average. Our testers use the firmness scale to explain and understand the level of support, comfort, and pressure relief each mattress can potentially provide, as well as what type of sleepers it might be best for.

You can read more about how we test for firmness by visiting our mattress firmness testing page.

Pressure Relief

โ€œA well-designed mattress can significantly minimize pressure points in the neck, hips, back, and shoulders by providing adequate support and contouring to the bodyโ€™s natural curves,โ€ says Dr. Raj Dasgupta, one of our medical advisors. โ€œThis is especially important for maintaining spinal alignment and preventing discomfort during sleep. Choosing the right firmness level and materials, such as memory foam or latex, can enhance pressure relief and contribute to a more restful nightโ€™s sleep.โ€

For our pressure relief test, we used a specialized mat that provides thermal pressure maps and a color-coded chart to highlight where pressure can build up on the body when lying in various sleeping positions. The pressure map lets us see what body parts are supported and relieved when sleeping in different positions.

The average pressure relief score among all the mattresses weโ€™ve tested is 3.8 out of 5, and all of the mattresses aside from the Polysleep Sierra and Endy Original scored higher than that.

MattressPressure Relief Score

Emma Hybrid Comfort 5/5
Polysleep Sierra3.8/5
Octave Vista 4/5
Douglas Mattress4.5/5
Casper Atlas Hybrid4.5/5

Edge Support

Edge support is especially important for couples who like to use the entire sleeping surface, those who want to sleep close to the edge of the bed, and seniors or others with mobility issues that make it difficult to get in and out of bed. Mattresses with solid perimeters allow sleepers to get close to the edge without concern that it will give way under them. It also allows couples to stretch out and use the whole bed instead of rolling toward the middle.

We test the supportiveness of the edges of each mattress by sitting on the edge of the mattress to get a feel for how well it holds up. Our testers also lie near the mattressโ€™s edges to ensure they do not sag even when moving around or lying in different positions.

The overall average edge support score among all the mattresses weโ€™ve tested is 4.1 out of 5; however, any mattress that scores 4 or higher is assumed to have great edge support. While a couple of mattresses scored lower than this on our list, they excelled in other categories, making them a worthwhile addition to your sleep setup, depending on your needs.

MattressEdge Support Score
Silk & Snow Hybrid3.6/5
Emma Hybrid Comfort 4/5
Polysleep Sierra3.4/5
Octave Vista 4/5
Douglas Mattress4.5/5
Casper Atlas Hybrid4/5
Logan & Cove Frontier4/5

Other Tests

Outside of firmness, edge support, and pressure relief, our team of mattress experts evaluates every mattress in several other performance categories that can significantly impact your sleep experience.

To get our responsiveness score, testers of different body types move around on the mattress and switch between sleeping positions to see how quickly the surface adapts to weight and movement.

When assessing a bedโ€™s cooling and temperature-regulating abilities, we rely on a thermal gun to measure the mattressโ€™s surface temperature before and after someone lies on it for several minutes. The smaller the temperature increase, the better the mattress is at dissipating heat rather than trapping it.

Learn more about our entire testing process by visiting our methodology page.

What Are the Best Canadian Mattresses?

While the term โ€œbestโ€ is subjective and will vary from person to person, the Emma Hybrid Comfort mattress is my personal favorite due to the high quality of its materials and the fact that the brand has a Canadian office in Vancouver.

Do All Companies Ship to Canada?

No. While more and more U.S. mattress companies are beginning to ship to Canada, many of them still donโ€™t, which is why we put together this list.

How Much Are Canadian Mattresses?

Just like U.S. mattresses, Canadian mattresses come at a variety of price points. However, if you live in the United States and are ordering from Canada, itโ€™s important to know that the Canadian dollar is stronger than the American dollar. So getting something shipped from Canada to the U.S. is probably going to be more expensive than the other way around.
