What are the Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Made Of?

Different sheet materials will be better suited to different people, depending on what feel you prefer, whether you sleep hot, or how easy the material is to care for. There are many different types of sheets out there, from bamboo to cotton to linen and more.

The Saatva Organic Percale sheets are made from 100 percent organic cotton, which is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Saatva uses long-staple cotton, which is higher quality and less likely to pill.

These sheets are made with a percale weave, which uses a one-over-one-under weave to create a crisp and lightweight fabric. They also have a 200-thread count. Additionally, they are pre-washed to give the sheets a lived-in feel right out of the box.

Each set of Saatva Organic Percale sheets comes with one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases (except twin and twin XL sets, which come with one pillowcase). The king and California king sets will come with king size pillowcases, while the rest have standard. The fitted sheet has 16-inch deep pockets, which should easily fit around most mattresses.

These sheets are available in seven different sizes: twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, California king, and split king (comes with two fitted sheets). I tested the queen size set for this review.

What Do the Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Feel Like?

To me, these sheets felt like typical percale sheets: crisp, breathable, and lightweight. They are smooth and definitely feel a little “worn in” from the prewashing.

They did not have a “standout” feel to me, but were rather just a great iteration of a classic sheet. If you have been hunting for a really standard percale sheet, I think these would be a great option for you.

Are the Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Good for Hot Sleepers?

I thought the Saatva Organic Percale sheets were quite breathable, making them a great choice for hot sleepers. A percale weave is less thick than other common styles, such as a sateen weave, allowing for more airflow. These sheets felt breezy to me, not trapping any heat as I laid under them.

How Durable are Saatva Organic Percale Sheets?

The Saatva Organic Percale sheets felt high-quality to me. Because they are made with long-staple cotton, these sheets should be less likely to pill and will maintain a smooth feel over time. Plus — and this is just my personal belief — I have found every Saatva product I reviewed to be very high quality, so I have a lot of faith in this brand’s commitment to quality products.

Do the Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Stay on the Bed?

I had no issue with the Saatva Organic Percale sheets staying on the bed. The fitted sheet, which has 16-inch pockets, fit over the average-sized mattress I tested with quite easily. I think most shoppers will have no issue with these sheets fitting.

Are Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Good for You?

Now let’s go over my recommendations for who should try the Saatva Organic Percale sheets.

Who should try Saatva Organic Percale sheets

  • If you are a hot sleeper, you will likely appreciate the breezy feel of these cotton sheets, thanks to their percale weave.
  • If you prefer organic products, these sheets are a great choice, as they are made with 100 percent GOTS certified organic cotton. They are also Fair Trade certified. (If you want to learn more, see our mattress and bedding certifications guide.)
  • If you like a crisp sheet, you should enjoy the classic percale-feel of these sheets.

Saatva Organic Percale sheets complaints

  • If you prefer a silky or satiny feel, these sheets might not be the right fit for you. I’d suggest the Saatva Organic Sateen sheets instead.
  • If you want sheets with bold patterns and fun color options, these might not be the best choice. Saatva only offers them in a few neutral colors.
  • If you want a moisture-wicking sheet, these might not be the best option. While cotton is a very breathable material, it does absorb moisture rather than wick it away. For cooling sheets that also wick moisture, check out our best bamboo sheets.

Saatva Organic Percale Sheets Vs

To help you finalize your decision, let’s compare the Saatva Organic Percale sheets to another Saatva sheet set, as well as to a competitor.

Saatva Organic Percale Sheets vs Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets

  • Like the percale sheets, the Saatva Organic Sateen sheets are made from 100 percent organic cotton. However, they are made with a sateen weave instead of percale, giving these sheets a thicker, more satiny feel and a lustrous sheen, as opposed to the crisp feel and matte appearance of the percale. They also have a 300-thread count.
  • These sheets are not quite as breathable and light as the percale sheets, but are still decently good for hot sleepers.
  • The Saatva Organic Sateen sheets are also available in Upper-Flex sizes, designed to fit Saatva’s adjustable bed, the Saatva Solaire.

The Saatva Organic sateen sheets are woven from 100 percent long-staple organic cotton into a 300-thread count, which is intended to offer a feel that’s soft, durable, and breathable. They are sateen woven which means they are going to be a bit more silky in feel, and less crisp. Additionally, they offer a light, lustrous sheen rather than a solid, matte finish.

Saatva Organic Percale Sheets vs Brooklinen Classic Core Sheets

  • The Brooklinen Classic Core sheets are made from 100 percent long-staple cotton in a percale weave, similar to the Saatva Organic Percale sheet set. Those longer cotton fibers are a great indicator that these are quality sheets. They also have a 270-thread count.
  • I found these sheets had a unique feel for percale sheets. They are crisp and structured, but have a simultaneously buttery and soft feel.
  • Brooklinen also offers their cotton percale sheets in a much wider variety of color options than Saatva does.
