Saatva is the company behind the Saatva Classic, which is one of our favorite innerspring mattresses. Saatva is well known for making high-quality and luxurious products — will this weighted blanket meet their usual standards?
I personally tested the Saatva weighted blanket and in this review, I’ll go over what it is made of, how it feels, and who it is best suited for. What is the Saatva Weighted Blanket Made Of?Â
There are a variety of materials used to make weighted blankets and learning about them can help you understand whether a blanket will be a good fit for you. So let’s take a look at the materials featured in the Saatva weighted blanket.
Cover: The Saatva weighted blanket’s cover is made from 100 percent cotton velvet, so it has a fuzzy and soft texture, instead of the smooth texture many other cotton covers have. The cover also features a quilted diamond stitching pattern, which ensures the fill stays evenly distributed throughout the blanket.
Fill: The fill of the Saatva weighted blanket is a mix of 67 percent glass beads and 33 percent cotton. This fill is what gives the blanket its weight.
Additionally, this blanket meets the Organic Blended Content Standard, with 33 percent organically grown material. It is also Fair Trade certified. Learn more about certifications in our mattress and bedding certification explainer.
How Much Does the Saatva Weighted Blanket Weigh?
The Saatva weighted blanket is available in two weight options: 12 and 20 pounds. The 12-pound blanket is a single size (48 inches by 72 inches) and the 20-pound blanket is a queen/king size (86 inches by 92 inches).
When choosing a weighted blanket, it is recommended to choose one that is close to 10 percent of your own body weight. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, then a 12-pound blanket would work well for you.
What Does the Saatva Weighted Blanket Feel Like?Â
I thought the Saatva weighted blanket felt extremely luxurious. To be candid, I generally associate Saatva with luxury — I’ve tested many of their products and I am always impressed with the quality and comfort. This weighted blanket is no exception. I found the cotton velvet cover extremely cozy, providing a fuzzy texture that reminded me of the soft fur on a puppy’s ear.
I appreciated how this blanket isn’t super thick — sometimes, I love how thick weighted blankets are, but having a thinner option made it feel more like a throw blanket that just happens to be heavy. The weight distribution was very good to me, as well.Â
Plus, I liked that the glass beads were small enough to be barely noticeable. Sometimes you can hear and feel the beads or plastic pellets rolling around inside a weighted blanket, but not hearing/feeling the individual beads in this blanket added to the luxurious vibe.
Is the Saatva Weighted Blanket Good for Hot Sleepers?
Initially, I expected this blanket to be quite warming, because of the velvet outer cover. However, when testing it out, I didn’t feel it trapped much heat at all. This may be because it is a thinner blanket and because it is made with breathable cotton.Â
Even the fiber fill in this blanket is cotton, which is unusual. Generally weighted blankets, in my experience, use polyester fiber fill. I think having a natural, breathable fiber like cotton, which allows for airflow, might have contributed to the temperature-neutral feel of this blanket. I think this heavy blanket will work well for year-round use.

As I mentioned before, I thought this blanket felt very high-quality. I appreciate that it is made with all natural materials — just cotton and glass beads, so there are no synthetics like polyester or plastic. I think that contributes to the luxe feel, along with quality construction.
The one ding on this blanket for me is it is not machine washable. The tag says it is spot clean only, but Saatva does say on their website it can be dry cleaned. Additionally, it doesn’t have a removable cover that can be washed separately.
Is the Saatva Weighted Blanket Good for You?Â
With all that in mind, let’s go over who I think will like the Saatva weighted blanket, as well as some complaints.
Who Should Try the Saatva Weighted Blanket
- Sleepers who love a velvety, soft blanket should love the feel of this blanket’s cover.
- Folks who want a thinner weighted blanket will appreciate the Saatva weighted blanket not being too thick.
- Shoppers looking for a super high-quality product should be satisfied with the Saatva weighted blanket. It is well-constructed and made with all natural materials — natural glass bead filling and cotton.
Saatva Weighted Blanket Complaints
- Shoppers who want a machine washable blanket and value easy cleaning may be frustrated because this blanket is spot clean or dry clean only. It also doesn’t have a washable cover, which many other blankets do have.
- Folks who want different weight options beyond 12 or 20 pounds may want to consider another blanket. The same is true if you want more size options than just one weight option for single size and one for a queen size/king size.

Saatva Weighted Blanket Vs
Still finalizing your decision? Let’s compare the Saatva weighted blanket to some competitors.
Saatva Weighted Blanket vs Bearaby Cotton Napper Weighted Blanket
- The Bearaby Cotton Napper is hand-knit with chunky yarn to create a thick, textured, open-weave blanket. The yarn is made from 95 percent organic cotton and 5 percent spandex. Having that open weave is beneficial for temperature regulation, as it allows for lots of airflow.
- This blanket has no weighted fill — unlike the Saatva, which uses glass beads, the weight of the fabric alone makes up the weight of the blanket.
- The Bearaby Cotton Napper is available in 10, 15, 20, and 25 pounds.
