Nest Bedding is a mattress and bedding company that’s all about providing natural, organic, and luxury products to consumers. Here at Sleepopolis, we’ve reviewed lots of products from this great company. But today’s focus is on the Nest Bedding Easy Breather pillow.

The Easy Breather is a shredded memory foam pillow that allows you to adjust the loft to the perfect size for you. I’ve reviewed quite a few similar pillows before, so I’m excited to see how the Easy Breather stacks up!

Is Nest Easy Breather a Good Pillow for You?

Now if there’s anything I’ve learned from reviewing pillows, it’s that they are not one-size-fits-all. Every person has different needs (and wants!) from their pillow, so here’s my quick recommendations for who will probably like the Easy Breather pillow and who may want to consider something else. (Psst…if that’s you, pop over to our best pillows roundup for more recommendations!)

Who should try the Nest Easy Breather pillow

  • I think that back sleepers will love the Nest Easy Breather pillow! It offers a nice amount of support, but still allows for some contouring around your head and neck. Plus, you can adjust the loft to a nice medium level for proper spinal alignment.
  • Side sleepers will also likely be fans of the Easy Breather, especially those that like a little squish to their pillow. It’s easy to get the loft to a high level and the supportive foam does a good job of keeping your head and neck elevated.
  • Hot sleepers will also enjoy the Easy Breather! The shredded fill allows for good airflow within the pillow, preventing body heat from being trapped. The cover also has a nice cool-to-the-touch feel.

Who should not try the Nest Easy Breather pillow

  • I would not recommend the Easy Breather pillow to stomach sleepers. While it is an adjustable pillow and you can remove fill to achieve a low loft for a stomach sleeper, I think you’ll end up removing almost all the fill, which doesn’t seem worth the money to me. I’d go with a softer, lower loft pillow — check out our best pillows for stomach sleepers.
  • The Easy Breather is a down alternative pillow, but I would caution fans of traditional down pillows that it has a very different feel. The shredded foam has a much more supportive, elevating feel than down.
  • If you’re looking for an all natural or eco-friendly pillow, I would also recommend something else. Nest Bedding does primarily specialize in natural and organic sleep products, but the Easy Breather doesn’t fit the bill quite as much as some of their other products. Nest does make an Easy Breather Natural pillow, however, which uses latex and cotton.

What Does the Nest Easy Breather Pillow Feel Like?

I bet you’re wondering what exactly this pillow feels like. To give you a solid understanding of this pillow’s feel, I took it home and tested it out for a few nights. Remember, feel is a little more subjective than some of the other qualities we test for, so you might have a different experience than I did based on our size and preferences.

Nest Easy Breather Pillow Firmness

What sleep position you tend to favor is one of the most important factors in determining what kind of pillow is best for you. Side sleepers tend to do best with a firmer feel, back sleepers with a medium feel, and stomach sleepers with a softer feel.

I thought the Easy Breather pillow had a solidly medium feel. The shredded fill allows for some give — you can sink into the pillow a little bit and get some contouring around your head and neck. But overall, I thought the pillow was super supportive. The foam has an elevating effect that is great for keeping your head and neck supported.

The shredded foam fill also allows for the pillow to have some squish and moldability, but definitely retains its shape. When I was testing it, I noticed that I could easily press into the pillow, but it would immediately re-form once I let go. I thought this was like a nice middle ground between a traditional down pillow, which is super moldable, and a memory foam block pillow that isn’t moldable at all.

Nest Easy Breather Pillow Loft

The other factor you’ll want to consider is loft. A pillow’s loft is essentially the height and each sleeping position needs a different loft for proper spinal alignment. Side sleepers do best with higher loft, back sleepers with a medium loft, and stomach sleepers with a low loft.

One of the great things about the Easy Breather is that it’s an adjustable pillow. When you receive it, it will be overstuffed with shredded foam fill. To adjust the loft, all you have to do is remove some of the fill, which you can do by unzipping the pillow and taking the foam out by hand. This adjustability allows you to achieve a loft that is just right for you.

With that in mind, here’s what I thought about the Easy Breather pillow in different sleeping positions.

Side — I really liked the Easy Breather pillow for side sleeping! The pillow already comes in a super high loft, so it doesn’t take too much adjustment. Personally, I had to remove some fill to give the pillow a comfortable loft for side sleeping, but if you are larger than me or have broader shoulders, you might not need to remove as much as I did. And while the Easy Breather has a medium feel, I found that the memory foam fill provided lots of neck support and kept my head elevated properly.

Back — I also really liked the Easy Breather for back sleeping. I primarily sleep on my back and I thought the Easy Breather had a lovely medium feel that worked well to maintain my spinal alignment, while still being comfy. Again, I had to lower the loft quite a bit here to sleep comfortably and prevent any neck pain, so I definitely recommend trying out different loft levels.

I found this pillow to be comfortable lying on my back.

Stomach — I didn’t find the Easy Breather to be a great pillow for stomach sleeping. Even if I removed a significant amount of the fill, the foam is so supportive and elevating that I felt my neck was craning. And having to remove almost all the fill from the pillow to make it work didn’t feel worthwhile to me, so I wouldn’t choose this pillow if I were a stomach sleeper.

Under the Arm — I think the Easy Breather can make a nice pillow to sleep with under your arms! It has a decent amount of squish that makes it nice to hug. I’d probably remove some of the fill to use it for sleeping under the arm, but that all depends on your size and personal preference.

Between the Legs — I don’t think the Easy Breather is a particularly good pillow for sleeping with it between your legs. For this purpose, I’d go with something a little flatter, as this pillow has a quite round, ballooning shape. I’d also pick something that allows for your legs to sink in a little bit more, as the purpose of putting a pillow between your legs is to improve hip and spinal alignment.

What is the Nest Easy Breather Pillow Made Of?

Now that we’ve gone over the feel of this pillow, let’s take a look at its construction.

One important note: the Nest Easy Breather pillow is available in a standard size, queen size, king size, and a side sleeper shape. This review primarily addresses the first three sizes — I tested the standard size pillow for this review. The side sleeper pillow has a u-shape that is meant to be more ergonomic for lying on your side, so it has some significant differences. Cover: The cover of the Easy Breather pillow is made of a blend of 49 percent Blended Adaptive Cooling Fabric, 49 percent polyester, and 2 percent spandex. The Blended Adaptive Cooling Fabric is Nest’s proprietary blend fabric that is primarily made from Tencel. Tencel is a fabric made from wood pulp, which is known for its eco-friendliness and cooling properties.

Inner Lining: The inner lining of the Easy Breather is what contains the fill. This inner lining is made from 100 percent high-quality, breathable knit cotton

Fill: The fill of the Easy Breather is 70 percent shredded foam and 30 percent smooth polyester fiber. The foam used in the fill is CertiPUR-US certified to be free from harmful chemicals and pollutants.

Both the cover and the inner pillow are machine washable

Is the Nest Easy Breather Pillow Good for Hot Sleepers?

If you tend to run hot as you sleep, it can be hard to find the perfect pillow to keep you cool. Fortunately, the Easy Breather pillow is a great cooling pillow. The shredded foam fill allows for air circulation within the pillow, which prevents heat from being trapped inside it. The cover also has a cool-to-the-touch feel and the Tencel used in the Blended Adaptive Cooling Fabric will be great for moisture-wicking.

My Final Thoughts About the Nest Easy Breather Pillow

The Easy Breather pillow has a lot of great qualities. I appreciate that it has an adjustable loft, so you can truly customize this pillow to fit you exactly. I also liked the Easy Breather’s cooling capabilities. The shredded foam allows for lots of breathability and the cool cover does a great job of maintaining that “cool side of the pillow” feel

Another one of my favorite features about this pillow is that the entire pillow is machine washable. That’s not a common feature for shredded foam pillows, so if you’re the kind of person who likes to keep things super clean, I think the Easy Breather is a top pick for you. And again, this pillow is a great choice for both back and side sleepers. It could also work well for combination sleepers who switch between those two positions.

Now the type of sleeper I wouldn’t recommend the Easy Breather pillow to is to stomach sleepers. To me, it’s not worthwhile to buy a pillow just to remove all the fill, which is what I think stomach sleepers would have to do to get the loft low enough. It’s important to prevent your neck from craning while sleeping on your stomach to prevent neck and back pain

Nest Easy Breather Pillow Policies and FAQs

How does the Nest Easy Breather pillow ship?

Nest ships for free within the contiguous United States. Customers in Hawaii and Alaska will have to pay an additional shipping fee. Nest will also ship to Canada for an additional shipping fee.

Does the Nest Easy Breather pillow come with a sleep trial?

Yes, the Easy Breather pillow comes with a 30-night sleep trial period. That means you can test the pillow out at home for 30 nights and if you decide it’s not for you, you can return it for a full refund.

Does the Nest Easy Breather pillow come with a warranty?

Yep! Nest offers a 2-year warranty on this pillow that will cover any manufacturing defects.

Is the Nest Easy Breather pillow machine washable?

Yes! This is one of my favorite features of this pillow. Both the cover and inner pillow are machine washable. Nest’s care instructions say to remove the cover and wash both the cover and pillow on a delicate cycle. To dry, tumble on a low heat.

Do I need to use a pillowcase or pillow protector with the Nest Easy Breather?

You certainly can use a pillowcase or pillow protector with the Easy Breather. However, it isn’t necessary, as the entire pillow is washable. It’s up to your personal preference!

What is the difference between the Nest Easy Breather and the Easy Breather Natural pillow?

These pillows are very similar in construction but the Easy Breather Natural uses slightly different materials. Nest Easy Breather Pillow Vs

Now that we’ve gone over the Nest Easy Breather pillow, let’s compare it to one of its competitors.

Nest Easy Breather Pillow vs Coop Eden Pillow

eden cover
Coop Eden pillow
  • Like the Nest Easy Breather, the Coop Eden is a down alternative pillow that uses shredded memory foam as its fill. One interesting difference is that the Coop Eden uses gel-infused foam for an extra cooling effect.
  • The Coop Eden is also a great choice for back and side sleepers, but not so much for stomach sleepers, for the same reason I don’t recommend the Easy Breather for stomach sleepers — you’re going to end up removing all the fill to get the loft low enough.
  • I think the Coop Eden allows for a little more sinkage and contouring than the Easy Breather. The foam isn’t quite as super supportive and elevating, so if you like to sink into your pillow a bit more, you’ll probably prefer the Coop Eden.
