If your New Year’s resolution is to get better sleep, then you might want to look into buying a new mattress. In fact, it’s one of the best times of the year to do so, as many renowned mattress brands are closing out this year and beginning the next with various promotions for the holidays.
Here at Sleepopolis, we helped more than 12,500 people find a mattress in 2024, and we’re prepared to do it all over again in 2025. We’ve reviewed over 300 beds using a series of hands-on tests, scoring each mattress in categories such as cooling, motion isolation, edge support, and more. Below are some of our favorites (as well as some bedding and accessories), along with their featured sales. Note that many of these discounts have already begun, and should be available on the brand’s website until the giant ball drops on December 31st (and perhaps beyond).

Best New Year’s Day Mattress Deals
Saatva
The Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction provides a classic innerspring feel. It’s a good option for combo sleepers, who will want to feel free to switch positions and avoid feeling “stuck” in the mattress. It comes in three firmness levels, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs. The white glove delivery Saatva provides is an added perk and will save you the headache of getting rid of your old mattress (they take it away for free!). For more information, watch our video review.
What our tester says:
“I think the Saatva is a great option for back sleepers, as the Luxury Firm model provides enough cushioning for their lumbar region, but also lots of support to keep their spine in a neutral alignment.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
Unlike many of the companies on this list, Saatva specializes in making traditional mattresses that don’t come out of a box. That includes the Saatva Classic, which is an innerspring mattress that has a sturdy build and offers great support to help defend against back pain. There’s also the memory foam mattress called the Loom & Leaf that allows sleepers to sink in for great pressure relief to avoid shoulder pain, and the latex Zenhaven and Saatva Latex Hybrid mattresses for those looking for beds that use more natural materials. There are some other great products from Saatva, so we recommend people head over to the Saatva website.
Helix
The Helix Midnight is amongst Helix’s line of six standard mattresses. It’s known for its more balanced feel, allowing it to accommodate a wide range of sleepers. We also recommend it for couples, as it scored well on our motion isolation, responsiveness, edge support, and cooling tests. For a plusher and more cooling version of this mattress, see the Helix Midnight Luxe. Learn more in our video review.
What our tester says:
“I would recommend this mattress for side or back sleepers because it’s supportive, without putting pressure on your joints.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
Helix offers six mattresses in their standard line that are all aimed at different sleep preferences. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight mattresses all use memory foam comfort layers so side sleepers can sink in for pressure relief, while the Moonlight, Dusk, and Dawn mattresses use poly foams to keep back and stomach sleepers more on top of the mattress. Along with the standard line, Helix ups the support and pressure relief of all of their mattresses in the Helix Luxe line and an even more luxurious Helix Elite line. They also make the Helix Plus in case heavier people need a bit more support. Just head to Helix to take their sleep quiz and find the right mattress for you.
Nectar
The Nectar delivers a balance of comfort and support: it’s definitely contouring, but still provides a firm enough foundation for most light to average weight sleepers, especially if they sleep on their back or stomach. Plus, a lengthy trial period, lifetime warranty, and affordable price make the Nectar a reassuring choice for many. Watch our video review to learn more.
What our tester says:
“I think back sleepers would be especially happy on this bed. They’ll get plenty of support from the firm memory foam in the Nectar Classic, which should translate to great pressure relief and a good night’s sleep. Hot sleepers who have to have a memory foam mattress should also have no trouble at all falling asleep on this bed.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
Nectar has a line of both all-foam and hybrid mattresses. The Nectar is a classic memory foam mattress that has thick comfort layers while also containing a layer of more supportive foam at the bottom. The slightly softer Nectar Premier provides a plush body contouring feel that’s great for side sleepers because it relieves pressure at problem areas like the shoulders and hips. There are a few other beds offered by the brand as well, so click here to head to Nectar.
DreamCloud
With soft foam and a sturdy layer of innerspring coils, the DreamCloud strikes a balance between comfort and support — a little bit of contouring up top and on-top-of-the-bed feel that comes from the bottom. It’s a fairly firm mattress that we think is most comfortable for back sleepers. It also has some luxury touches such as a cashmere-blend cover that are reminiscent of a high-end hotel. Learn more in our DreamCloud video review.
What our tester says:
“I really like how luxurious this mattress feels and how it could work for a variety of sleepers. Along with that, I found that the breathable cashmere cover helps the DreamCloud sleep cool throughout the night. Thanks to its medium-firm to firm support, I think the DreamCloud is a durable mattress. It balances support with plenty of pressure relief for back sleepers.” – Bridget Chapman, former Sleepopolis senior product editor
DreamCloud is a company known for their luxury hybrid mattresses. The DreamCloud has a firm, supportive feel that we recommend for couples and people who sleep on their back. There’s also the DreamCloud Premier, which upgrades the original DreamCloud model with more luxurious touches such as a pillow top. It has excellent pressure relief for side sleepers, a good blended feel for back sleepers, and is supportive enough for heavy sleepers. The brand also just released memory foam versions of both of these mattresses, which offer similar features, but without any coils in the construction. Click here to save on your DreamCloud purchase.
Emma
The Emma mattress is an all-foam bed, meaning that it includes four layers of foam in its construction and it doesn’t include any coils or springs. However, these are not all layers of memory foam (which you might have been thinking). Instead, the Emma uses Point Elastic Airgocell foam, HALO memory foam, and HRX (High Resiliency Extra) Supreme Foam throughout its build. These dense foams create a firm mattress, which is actually uncommon for this kind of bed. Because of this firmness, the Emma is a good fit for back, stomach, and combination sleepers who like more of an “on top” feel to their mattress. Check out more in our video review.
What our tester says:
“I think the Emma is a great choice for back sleepers. Although this is an all-foam mattress, it should have the right combination of comfort and support that these folks need. Stomach sleepers should also find the support they need.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
Emma is a mattress and bedding brand based in Germany. They currently offer two mattresses: the Emma Original and Emma Hybrid Comfort. The Emma Original is an all-foam bed with a firmer-than-average feel that could work well for many back and stomach sleepers. The Emma Hybrid Comfort also has a firm feel, but with the addition of sturdy coils, it is a great pick for many heavy sleepers, who weigh 250 pounds or more. We also recommend it to couples, since it isolates motion well, is cooling, has strong edge support, and is responsive enough for sex. Click here to save on your Emma purchase.
WinkBeds
The WinkBed is a luxury hybrid mattress. It has a similarly supportive and sturdy feel to a traditional innerspring mattress, but upgrades like a Euro top and cooling Tencel cover give it a touch of modern luxury. Available in three firmness levels, there is a WinkBed for just about every sleeper. And a responsive and bouncy feel makes it a great pick for combination sleepers. Learn more in our video review.
What our tester says:
“If you like the feel of a traditional innerspring mattress, the WinkBed could work for you. Since this bed offered great pressure relief around my lumbar region, I’d also recommend it to folks who suffer from lower back pain.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
Winkbeds offers a few different mattresses and each with its own unique feel. Their namesake WinkBed mattress is a pillow top hybrid with a feel reminiscent of a traditional innerspring bed. It comes in Soft, Luxury Firm, Firm, and Plus versions, so you can find the right support level for your sleep style. They also make the EcoCloud, another hybrid mattress but this time uses latex for comfort and an organic cotton cover, so it utilizes some organic materials in its construction. Last but not least is the GravityLux, an all-foam mattress that relies on thick layers of memory foam for pressure-relieving comfort. Click here to head to WinkBeds.
Brooklyn Bedding
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress combines a foam comfort layer and sturdy coils. This combination of materials makes it bouncy and easy to move around on. It comes in three firmness levels, and we recommend the Medium model for most back sleepers. It’s a great choice for shoppers who are looking for a new mattress on a budget. For more information, check out our video review.
What our tester says:
“Given that the Signature Hybrid has some excellent bounce, I’d highly recommend this mattress for combination sleepers who often change positions multiple times throughout the night. I also think the Signature Hybrid could be a great fit for couples. You shouldn’t be overly disturbed by a restless partner on this bed, and it has nice, firm edge support.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
If you want options, Brooklyn Bedding has got plenty of them for you. They have a huge selection of mattresses with vastly different strengths so that everyone can find something to fit their preferences. There’s the Signature Hybrid with its medium-firm feel, the Aurora Luxe and its excellent cooling properties, a value option called the Essential, and more. Click here to head to Brooklyn Bedding and check out their full selection.
Leesa
While it’s an all-foam mattress on the softer end of the firmness scale, the Leesa should still offer enough support for a neutral spinal alignment, which is good news for back sleepers. Some side sleepers will also get the contouring they need at the shoulders and hips. Learn more in our Leesa video review.
What our tester says:
“I think the Leesa is a great choice for back sleepers and should give them the comfort and support they desire. It could also work for some combination sleepers, as it’s bouncy enough to easily move around on.” – Bridget Chapman, former senior product editor
Leesa’s bed-in-a-box mattresses are comfortable, responsive, and affordable. Budget shoppers will especially like the Leesa Original. There’s also the Leesa Hybrid mattress, which uses a combination of innerspring coils and foam to be a touch firmer and more supportive. For a more luxurious option, shoppers should check out the plush Leesa Legend. Head over to Leesa to see more details.
Bear
Even though it’s made entirely of foam, the Bear has a firm, supportive feel that should be sturdy enough for back sleepers and stomach sleepers alike. Additionally, combination sleepers should be able to easily move around on its surface. You can also pay extra for a Celliant cover that may help with cooling and muscle recovery. Learn more in our video review.
What our tester says:
“I found the double poly foam construction produced a firm, supportive feel. Though you’re likely to sink into its top layer of memory foam, this sinkage is somewhat curbed by the taut poly foam transition layer. This means most folks are going to be positioned more “on top” of the structure than “in” it.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and mattress tester
If you’re an athlete or live an active lifestyle, Bear has a line of mattresses to help you recover. The company works with a team of sponsored athletes, medical professionals, and fitness enthusiasts to market its products as tools for post-workout recovery. There’s the original all-foam Bear mattress that’s supportive and great for back sleepers, the Bear Hybrid mattress with its pocketed coils for extra bounce and support, and the Bear Elite Hybrid, which comes in three different firmness options, is extra cooling, and ultra-luxurious. Head over to Bear to see more.
Nolah
The Nolah Evolution’s hybrid construction offers the cushioning of memory foam with the responsiveness of coils. The Luxury Firm model is a good option for side and back sleepers due to its medium-firm feel, though there are Plush and Firm versions as well. Those who share a bed may also appreciate its low motion transfer, so you won’t be disturbed by a partner’s movements and its solid edge support to allow you to maximize surface area. For more information, check out our video review.
What our tester says:
“I laid down to rest on this mattress on my back — my primary sleep position. I felt comfortable, but also appreciated the cozy, plush top of the bed. After some time lying on my back, I switched over to my side. I didn’t find this position quite as comfortable, as I did feel some slight pressure buildup in my shoulder.” – Amelia Jerden, senior staff writer
Nolah offers a wide variety of luxury mattresses, including an eco-friendly bed and a mattress designed for kids. Their beds are great for side and back sleepers, too, since they have pressure-relieving foams. Some of our favorites are the Nolah Original with its soft, all-foam feel, the Nolah Signature, and the Nolah Evolution, which is a nice option for couples. Click here to see Nolah’s full line of mattresses and everything else they offer.
Plank
The Plank Firm more than lives up to its name with its ultra-sturdy foams and supportive feel. While this bed certainly isn’t for everyone, it should be an ideal fit for back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and combination sleepers who want to feel more on top of their mattress than in it. For more information, check out our video review.
What our tester says:
“I think the Plank Firm is one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers. Both sides of the mattress, the firm side and extra firm side, should give these sleepers the support they need to keep their hips in line with their shoulders. Back sleepers who like a firmer feel should also be happy on the firm side of the Plank.” – Nichole Mondshein, lead reviewer and staff writer
If you love a firm feel, Plank should be right up your alley. A sub-brand of Brooklyn Bedding, Plank specializes in creating ultra-firm mattresses, including the Plank Firm mattress and Plank Firm Luxe. The Plank Firm is all-foam, while the Plank Firm Luxe has coils and some additional luxury touches in its construction. Both are flippable, with a firm and ultra-firm side. That allows you to decide just how firm you want your bed to be. Click here to save on your Plank mattress.
